World Health Organisation has declared an EBOLA outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo as “public health emergency of international concern” - but what is Ebola, what are the symptoms and how is the virus spread?
Lives of more than 1,600 people has been claimed the in the last year by Ebola since a new outbreak spread in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The first case of Ebola spread to the first major urban population in Goma due to which WHO issued an international emergency declaration this week. More than a million people lives in city and sits near to an international airport. By announcing the emergency declaration , health official hopefully manage to gain more funds to fight the latest outbreak.

Ebola virus disease (EVD) is full name for Ebola ,formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF).50 percent of people who become infected died due to this serious illness.
Ebola was transmitted to humans by wild animals but can be passed from person to person.According to WHO , the virus can be spread “via direct contact through broken skin or mucous membranes”. A person with ebola , contaminated object that has body fluids from the sick person can be infected.Symptoms:
Fever, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, sore throat,vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, kidney and liver damage, internal bleeding and death.
First case of Ebola was detected in South Sudan and the DRC in 1976.It came to worldwide attention almost 40 years later when a massive epidemic spread across Africa.
The 2014-2016 Ebola outbreak claimed the lives of 11,310 people in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.There are approximately 10,000 survivors living today who were infected by Ebola.
